The SCA invites you to join your Sumner neighbors on Oct. 31st for our annual Halloween parade and party. Gather at the circle at Nahant and Overlea for the parade, which starts moving at 5:45pm. Children and parents walk about two blocks to the Rockmere Court cul de sac where you will be greeted with glow sticks, donut holes and water. This is where the trick or treating starts.
Please be respectful of some simple requests from neighbors on the parade route and on the Rockmere Court cul de sac. Neighbors on the parade route have asked for children not to jump out of the parade to trick or treat. Rockmere Court cul de sac residents have asked for the trick or treating to be over on their street by 8pm. Since the party and trick or treating starts here, Rockmere Court cul de sac residents pass out candy to over 250 trick or treaters a year. By 8pm they are exhausted and may have run out of candy. Children who come out later in the evening should trick or treat on other Sumner streets. If you have an older child going out without you later in the evening, please communicate this to them. Several of us who live on Brookeway Drive for example, would enjoy seeing the trick or treaters, because we usually don't get many. Some children trick or treat for UNICEF. If you want to give to this cause, please remember to have change. Please remind your children to be polite by not grabbing candy from the bowl themselves, to say trick or treat and to say thank you. Also, if a house is dark it means please do not disturb. The resident may be living alone, out of town, ill or run out of candy.
The most important thing is for our Sumner children to have fun on Halloween. The Sumner Halloween Parade and Party is one of our wonderful neighborhood traditions.
