Dear Neighbors, 

The Sumner Citizens Association is run by a Board of neighbors. It can per the by-laws have up to ten members. The current Board is seeking additional members to join in the work of helping Sumner continue to be a beautiful, friendly place to live. 

The Board generally meets six or seven times a year, with meetings rarely lasting more that an hour and a half. In between meetings, Board members consult via email as required. Board members must be members of the SCA. They are expected to attend Board meetings and to help with community events. Several current, active Board members not only have family responsibilities, but also full-time jobs.

The Board is also seeking volunteers to help with specific activities such as working on a team to put on social events; help distribute the Sumner newspaper; or work on another activity in which you have an interest. Serving as a Board member or as an unelected volunteer both benefits the Sumner community and brings the opportunity to meet many neighbors and make new friends. 

If you have idea of ways to make Sumner better, if you might be interested in joining the Board, please let the Secretary, Peggy Cloherty (mlclo...@verizon.net) know prior to August 23. If you would like to explore what is involved, please feel free to contact any Board member to discuss either joining the Board or helping with community activities.
