    Neighbors,

As the Traffic Chairs for the Sumner Citizens Association, we wanted to share information about filing a safety complaint against a motor carrier. Trucks with a gross vehicle rating greater than 10,000 GVWR may not drive in the neighborhood. You may have noticed the new warning signs for such trucks at several neighborhood entrances.

The Board of the SCA has attempted to work with Safeway and Montgomery County police to enforce the existing restrictions. Nonetheless, trucks with ratings in excess of 10,000 GVWR continue to traverse our neighborhood streets. This is a safety issue.

If you are home and witness such an infraction, one act you may take is to file a complaint with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. It is best if you have photos or video of the event. If you are able to note the carrier's name and DOT number please do. It is also helpful to have a description and license plate number. Note the time of day and date. The complaint process is online and may be accessed here:

We understand that there is at least one app for truckers sending the vehicles through our neighborhood. Federal tickets may help cease illegal truck traffic. If you are willing and in a position to file a complaint to end this practice, please do so.
