Bingo Night this Friday, September 7th at 7:00pm

The Glen Echo Fire Department will be holding its annual family-friendly Bingo Night on Friday, September 7th at 7:00pm, in the Spanish Ballroom in Glen Echo Park to benefit the Glen Echo Fire Department, which provides emergency and fire protection service 24X7 365 days a year to residents of our service area.  In addition to a live bingo caller, refreshments will be available.  This is a great, wholesome family event (bingo played the old fashioned way), typically attended by hundreds of bingo enthusiasts.

Many local businesses have donated prizes and silent auction items, including gift cards.  Among the donations are a bike helmet (can be exchanged for the correct size) and a sturdy lock from Big Wheel Bikes and a pool toy from Anglo Dutch Pools and Toys.  Exercise packages are available from Move Well Fitness, Simon Says Yoga, and Crunch Fitness.  For Terps fans, a signed basketball from the University of Maryland.  Here’s a list of the restaurants so far:  Bambu, DC Boathouse, Clydes, Cheesecake Factory, PF Chang's, Et Voila, Maggiano's, Bistro Aracosia, Starbucks (Palisades, Westwood and Sumner), Georgetown Bagelry, Ledos, Passion Fin, Corner Bakery, Grilled Oyster, McDonalds, Old Angler’s Inn, Panera, and Seasons 52. (This is a handy list when you’re trying to think of a local restaurant to dine in.)  Retail food and beverage store donors include Safeway, Giant, Bradley Food & Beverage, MacArthur Beverages, Paul's Wine & Spirits, and Wow Cow ice cream.  Donors of services include Fashion Craft Cleaners, Westwood Barber Shop, Westbard Hair Studio, Westwood Cleaners, Hartcorn (photo) Studios, and Johnson’s Chimney Vac. For entertainment, tickets to Adventure Theater, Puppet Company and Strathmore Hall (plus donation of a membership). For the aspiring ballerina, a Ballet Petite package including a book, wand and gift certificate. Via the fire station, a day with Chief Leusch (see below about his fantastic award) and/or CPR classes.  Other retail outlets that donated gift certificates are American Plant Food and the Wild Bird Center.
